Our History

Cloverleaf Inc.’s journey began around 1989-1990. Dave Bueker’s in-laws offered him a job helping them in their home building business; Cloverleaf Homes Inc. A few years later there was an economic hiccup and Frank Brooks; a business partner and Dave took the opportunity to sell and install residential swing sets. This opportunity led to even greater development potential in their play equipment/park & rec field.

Cloverleaf Homes was sought out to help a commercial playground vendor on a repair job that needed to take place quickly and just like that we had our foot in the door. This vendor soon referred us to another job and our business began doing more commercial work. Due to the increase in our focus on commercial playgrounds, we decided to drop “Homes” from Cloverleaf and began Cloverleaf Inc. At this point, Frank, our business partner, decided to retire and the business was taken over fully by Dave Bueker and his wife Tracy.

A few years into the playground work we were able to secure three years of a 5-year bond project with the Shawnee Mission School District. Through this partnership, we were able to really build our reputation for workmanship and square dealing. Although we were also doing work for many other agencies, our humble beginnings began with SMSD and it is that relationship that we will always recognize as a huge factor in our success.

A big step in Cloverleaf’s development came in 2001-2002 when we started into a relationship with AB Creative of De Soto, KS. That relationship continues today and we have been truly blessed by this relationship. It has opened the door to other relationships and opportunities.

Our family continued to be involved in the growth of the company and it was during the summers with SMSD that Dave & Tracy’s son; John began to work for the company. John was around 12 years old at the time. What kid wouldn’t love to work on playgrounds? Through the rest of John’s high school years, John worked on holiday breaks and summers. John started full time in the summer of 2005. John is now a joint owner & fully leads and oversees the day to day operation of the business as well as managing our crews. This doesn’t stop him from being fully present and active in every install with our guys.

John’s oldest son; Gabe has began working with us over the summers and intends to continue full-time after he graduates in December 2024. Dave’s wife Tracy is the Secretary and manages the office work with Dave. John’s wife Heather is HR and handles payroll. John and Dave are both incredibly thankful that God has blessed their family with this opportunity to manage and oversee this small family business where they get to share the day-to-day joys working together.

Another big step, as it turns out is the hiring of Hunter Taylor. He has been a fixture in our family since he was in elementary school. He attended schools with the Bueker kids and we hired him when he was in high school as seasonal summer help. We are blessed that he kept coming back year after year and is now a full time crew lead & a part of our family for many, many years. Hunter is John’s right hand man in the day to day execution of our work. Hunter also helps Dave in the estimating process of jobs.
